St Piran League East Division

st piran football leagueThe St Piran League East Division is part of the 11th level of the English football, which is part of Feeder Leagues of the National League system. This is a feeder league to step six.  It sits alongside the West Division.

The league is part of the bigger setup of the St Piran League, which was created in 2019 as step seven of the non-league game was restructured. Most of the clubs involved in the league are from Cornwall, although a few will come from Devon.

As of 2024, the East Division consists of 16 teams. One team finishes as champions and earns promotion to the South West Peninsula League Premier Division West.

At the other end of the table, the teams that finish in the league’s bottom two are relegated to Division One East. Each season, two teams are also promoted to the St Pirran East from Division East. However, those promotions are subject to whether the team’s home ground meets the requirements of the higher league in which they will be playing.

Many of the clubs that feature in St Pirran East are reserve teams from clubs slightly higher in the football pyramid.

Because reserve teams cannot play in the same league as their parent club, if they finish the season in the promotion spots and their parent club is in the same league, they are denied entry and have to remain in the same division for the next season.

This situation occurred in both seasons, 2021/22 and 2022/23, as Saltash Borough finished top of the table in both campaigns. However, because it was the club’s reserve team, they couldn’t be promoted to the next level.

In season 2023/24, the champions, St Dominicks, were also denied entry into the South West Peninsula League Premier Division West.
