Spartan South Midlands Football League Division Two
Spartan South Midlands Football League Division Two is a football league featuring clubs from Hertfordshire, northwest Greater London, central Buckinghamshire and southern Bedfordshire.
Division Two is one of five Spartan South Midlands Football League divisions, and the third tier, with only Division One and the Premier Division above it. Meanwhile, the two divisions below it are reserve leagues, which are not part of the football pyramid. Division 2 is a feeder league of the National League system and the 11th tier overall of the English football pyramid.
More information on Division Two
The Spartan South Midlands Football League as a whole was formed in 1997 when the two separate leagues, the Spartan League and the South Midlands League, merged. The league is currently known by its sponsorship name, the Molten Spartan South Midlands Football League.
Division Two didn’t operate by its current name until the 2001/02 season, when the Senior League became Division One and the old Division One became Division Two.
When it comes to promotion, the highest finisher from the league’s top five earns promotion to Division Two. This is subject to the team meeting the higher-tier stadium requirements. At the other end of the table, relegation is decided by Individual League’s and local FAs.
