Peterborough and District League Premier Division
The Peterborough and District Football League Premier Division is a feeder league of the National League System and the 11th tier of the English football pyramid overall. The Premier Division is just one of six divisions in the Peterborough and District League.
In season 2023/24, 138 teams were part of the league in its six divisions. For sponsorship reasons, the league is now called the GCE HIRE FLEET Peterborough & District Football League.
Ahead of the 2005/06 season, the league decided to combine reserve and ‘A team’ leagues. However, the experiment didn’t take off, and by season 2010/11, the league had reverted to six regular divisions labelled Premier Division, Division One, Division Two, Division Three, Division Four and Division Five.
More information on the league
The top tier of the league was founded in season 1902/03. A second tier was established ahead of the 1909/10 campaign.
The Peterborough and District Football League is a feeder league to Eastern Counties League Division One North and the United Counties League Division One. The team that finishes in the top five in the Premier Division and is eligible to win promotion is automatically promoted. The club’s facilities will dictate the eligibility for the higher level. The individual leagues and the Local FA’s decide relegation in the league.

Which clubs have been successful in the Premier Division?
Many clubs have experienced periods of success in the Premier Division. For instance, in recent seasons, Uppingham Town has been something of a dominant force, winning three titles in the last four seasons, claiming the titles in season 2021/22, 2022/23 and 2024/25. Unfortunately, Town doesn’t meet the criteria for promotion.
Another club that has experienced relative success is Moulton Harrox, who has won the Premier Division title three times since 2016, including claiming their last title in season 2023/24. They had also won the title in season 2012/13.
Going further back in time, Parsons Drove are one of the most successful clubs in the history of the Premier Division, having won eight titles, with the first in 1949 and the latest to date coming in 1973.
Westwood Works can match Parsons Drove’s feat of eight titles. They claimed their first top-tier title in 1909, and the last time they finished as champions was back in 1939.
