The NLS Feeder Leagues replaced step 7 of the National League System when step 7 was abolished in season 2020/21. It is the lowest level of the National League System.

The feeder leagues are administered and organised by county FA’s, who make the big decisions, including promotion and relegation.

The leagues are regional, with 49 different leagues containing teams from the respective region. The regional feeder leagues go down as low as the 20th level of the game in England.

However, a total of 787 clubs participate in the regional leagues that are now considered the 11 level of the English game overall. However, there are thousands of clubs at levels below the 11th level of the game.

Teams who play in the various regional feeder leagues win promotion to the appropriate leagues at step 6. However, like with most leagues in the lower reaches of non-league football, it depends on whether their facilities meet those of the respective league they are mooted to join.

Relegation works the same, as teams in the NLS Feeder Leagues are relegated to an appropriate league in the next level, which in this case would be level 12.
