Hanwell Town FC is preparing to unveil one of the most distinctive shirts in football: an officially licensed third kit inspired by The Rocky Horror Show.
The idea began with the West London club’s desire to create more than a conventional change strip for the 2026/27 season. Hanwell Town wanted a shirt that supporters would be proud to wear, collectors would want to own and people would remember long after the season had finished.
The opportunity arose through a longstanding relationship between a member of the Hanwell Town committee and Andy Leighton, Managing Director of companies responsible for aspects of the image and music-publishing rights associated with The Rocky Horror Show.
Working with the rights holders and kit partner VX3, the concept developed from sketches into a limited edition shirt celebrating one of the world’s best known stage productions while remaining unmistakably Hanwell Town.
“We wanted to create something that would excite our existing supporters while introducing Hanwell Town to people who may never previously have encountered the club,” said Hanwell Town Chairman David Iddiols. “It shows what a community football club can achieve when it is willing to be ambitious and ask, ‘Why not?’”
Although a West London football club and a global theatrical phenomenon may initially appear to inhabit different worlds, they share something important: a powerful sense of community. “Hanwell Town has always been about community and making people feel welcome,” said Elsa Jones, a Director of the club who oversees its marketing. “That is also such an important part of the Rocky Horror community. This shirt celebrates creativity and individuality, but above all, it celebrates belonging.”
And supporters should not assume that the kit will be the end of the story. The club is already considering how the partnership might come to life on a matchday. Who knows? Hanwell Town fans might even find themselves doing the Time Warp at a game this season!
Supporters, collectors and Rocky Horror fans seeking more information about the limited edition kit (or about the club, more generally) can visit hanwelltown.com with pre orders opening Saturday 1st August.
